Day 5: 11 April 2024 (GMT+2) FreeFly-Slalom

16:54 We are now finished with the FreeFly-Slalom and we have crowned our winners! Francesco Cappuzzo and Nia Suardiaz are our champions! Thanks to everyone who has tuned in to watch the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Leucate 2024! 

16:32 We have just run the mens finals with Francesco Cappuzzo is our winner with Julien Rattotti in second and Riccardo Zorz in third!

16:28  Nia takes the win with Kylie Belloeuvre in second place and Mar De Arce in third! 

16:23 We are now running the women’s finals with Nia Suardiaz leading the pack. 

16:20 Julien Rattotti wins the semi finals followed by Bastian Escofet.

16:17 Bowien Van Der Linden wins the women’s semi-finals followed by Mar De Arce. 

16:08 We are now running the semi-finals of the women! Bowien Van Der Linden, Mar De Arce, Viola Lippitsch and Christina Koenig are all racing in the semi-finals.

16:05 Francesco Cappuzzo wins the quarter-finals with Bastian Escofet in second place. 

16:00 Nia Suardiaz is the winner of the women’s quarter-finals and Kylie Belloeuvre came in second.

15:43 Titouan Galea and Oscar Leclair have been disqualified from round 3 of the final eliminations.

14:57 We will be starting with four rounds of the men. Round 1 of the mens is about to commence

14:01 We will be running the SUPER finals for both the men and women at 15:00 so be ready, anything can happen! 

14:00 Bastian Escofet wins the finals of elimination 4 with Gollito Estredo taking a close second and Oscar Leclair in third. 

13:00 Nia is holding 1st position as she has won 3 elimination rounds and has one discard so she does not need to compete in round 4. Bowien Van Der Linden is currently in second position.

12:50 Day 5 We have completed three eliminations of the Men’s and women’s and we are now onto the fourth. Bastien Escofet is currently leading the mens and Nía Suardiaz is leading the women’s.

Day 4: 10 April 2024 (GMT+2) Surf-Freestyle

17:56 The finals has finished, Chris MacDonald took the win with the biggest overall score of the competition at 29 points. Noe Cuyala takes second and Axel Gerard in third position.

17:27 Once again Nia Suardiaz takes the win in Leucate in the Surf-Freestyle discipline! she put on an amazing show in the final landing her textbook backflip and attempting some huge frontside 720s. In second place was her teammate Mar de Arce

16:59 Women’s final in Surf-Freestyle is on!!

16:56 Christopher MacDonald took the win in the semi-finals with a huge backside 1080 and some amazing innovations. In a close second Malo Guenole who landed a massive back move and his own backaside 1080

16:23 Noé Cuyala wins the semi-final heat number 1 landing a double backflip combo. Tomas Acherer came in second and also put on an impressive show landing a powerful front flip. 

15:49 Nia just won her semi final heat with a tweaked out frontside 3 and her signature backflip. Christina Konig took second place and will also qualify through to the finals with an impressive Toeside frontside three spin.

15:30 Mar de Arce has just won her semi final heat with an impressive combo scoring 7.67. Sofia Marchetti has also qualified through to the final round of the women Surf-Freestyle discipline.

15:00 We will be starting with the women’s semi-finals heat 1. In this heat we have Mar de Arce, Zara Maillard, Sofia Marchetti and Bowien Van Der Linden.

14:54 After a short break we will now switch to the Surf-Freestyle discipline starting with the women. The competitors will now have 9 attempts with 3 tricks counting. They will have 50 seconds to complete their tricks with 4 minute transitions. We will be starting with the women’s. 

13:53 Bastian Escofet won the mens elimination round 2 finals and is currently in the lead in the FreeFly discipline. 

12:30 We will now continue with the men’s mini final and the men’s final

12:25 We are currently on hold as the wind is too strong to continue with the racing.

12:15 In the women’s Nia Suardiaz qualified first in her semi-final heat and Mar de Arce won her semi-final heat. 

12:10 We have just finished the semi-finals of the men and the women’s. Bastien Escofet won the first semi-finals and Gollito Estredo won the second semi’s.

12:09 We are now running elimination 2 of the mens and women’s FreeFly slalom.

11:06 Alessandro Tomassi is the winner of elimination 1 and the Bastien Escofet finished in a close second position. 

11:00 Nia Suardiaz is the official winner of elimination 1 of the FreeFly-Slalom as she steamed ahead of the rest of the pack.Mar De Arce took 

10:52 We are now running the finals of the women in elimination 1.

10:30 Bastien Escofet wins the first semi-finals in round one and Riccardo Zorzi wins the semi’s finals number 2. 

10:00 Round 1 of the mens FreeFly-Slalom has commenced. Conditions are looking perfect for racing with  20-25 knots of wind.

09:00 Good morning from windy Leucate! We will be starting with the FreeFly-Slalom discipline. The first possible start is 10:00 am. 

Day 3: 9 April, 2024 (GMT+2) Surf-Freestyle

17:15 Bastien Escofet takes the win in heat 3 of the mens quarter-finals followed by a close second Axel Gerard. 

17:13 In heat 2 of the mens quarter-finals we saw Noe Cuyala score the highest score of the day with a 9.03 on a frontside 1080. Malo took second place also putting on an impressive show. 

16:46 Tom Archerer just won the first quarter-final heat landing an impressive front flip frontside 3. He will be advancing along with Xavier Corr to the semi-finals.

16:37 We are now running the men’s quarter-finals. 

16:32 Kylie Belloeuvre also won her quarter-final heat landing a clean frontside 3 spin followed by Zara Maillard in second. 

16:00 Round 3 Heat 3 saw the Spanish sensation Nia Suardiaz (ESP) dominate landing an amazing inverted backflip and a backflip 360 combo. Mar De Arce from the Canary Islands also put on a great show landing a very clean front side 3 combo.  

15:45 In heat 2 round 3 Sofia Marchetti from Italy dominated this heat landing a clean backside 360 spin and railey. Close behind was Enoha Laurent from France, qualifying for the semi-finals. 

15:25 We are now running the women’s Quarter finals.

13:45 We have just finished round 4 heat 1 of the mens with Luca Vuillermet (FRA) winning and Anchor Sosa from the Canary Islands taking second. 

13:38 Christopher MacDonald has just taken the win in Round 3 heat 8 scoring the highest trick of the day so far on a toeside backside 720.

13:36 Round 3 Heat 7 saw an impressive heat with Fancesco Cappuzzo and Jerome Cloetens going head to head. Cloetens landed some impressive toeside tricks and a backmobe putting him in the lead.

13:30 In round 3 Heat 4 Malo Guenole took the win over Luca Vuillermet (2nd) and Lasse Harbacek who came third.

13:20 we just finished round 3 of the mens with heat 3 seeing Noé Cuyala landing the first frontside 1080, defeating Ancor Sosa and Solenn Gall. 

11:35 Round 2 is finished and we have just completed Round 3 of the mens with Xavier Corr taking the win with a 6.67 for an impressive front flip.

11:19 We are now onto the mens round 2: Nathan Berger took the win in the first heat followed closely by Sebastiano Zorzi from Italy.

10:25 Bowien Van Der Linden won the first heat of the women’s against Enoha Laurent from France. 

09:57 We are now running the first round of the women’s Surf-Freestyle. 

09:36 We have finished the mens round 4 and Giulio Gasperini (ITA) with Max Robinson taking a close second and Nico Akgazciyan (FRA) taking third.

09:20 In the third heat Tomas Acherer from Austria took the win with a huge score of 22.57. Ezio Bastianelli (FRA) came in second and Nathan Berger from the Canary Islands placed third. 

09.14 The second and third heat of the mens round one has finished. Solenn Gall (FRA) Wins the second heat with Sam Esteve (FRA) in second and Lasse Harbacek (GER) in third position.

08:45 The first heat of the Surf-Freestyle mens is complete. Gollito Estredo took the win over Martín Tieles who took 2nd place and Sebastiano Zorzi in third.

08:23 Day 3 of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Leucate and we have 40+knot winds! We will be starting the competition with the Surf- Freestyle and completing as many rounds as possible today of this discipline.

 

 

Day 2: 8 April, 2024 (GMT+2)

18:45 Make sure to tune in early tomorrow as the competition will be starting at 08:30am (GMT+2). We are expecting very strong winds tomorrow morning so we will be starting with the Surf-Freestyle discipline. 

18:33 The FreeFly-Slalom riders have been released for today as there has not been enough wind to start the competition. 

12:10 The Surf-Freestyle riders have been released for the day. 

12:03 The skippers meeting has finished. The Freely-Slalom discipline is currently on hold as we are waiting for the wind to increase. The wind is looking very light for today but tomorrow the forecast promises very strong Tramontana winds.

Day 1: 7 April, 2024 (GMT+2)

18:00 Unfortunately there was not enough wind to run the event today. The event has been put on hold for now and the riders and crew will reconvene tomorrow.  

14:00 Currently there is not enough wind to run this discipline but the forecast looks promising with the wind set to increase. 

13:00 The Surf-Freestyle riders have been dismissed for the day.

12:23 The GWA Wingfoil World Cup France has officially started with registration and the first riders briefing completed. The judges have given a first possible start of 13:00 for the FreeFly-Slalom discipline. Currently there is not enough wind to run the this discipline but the forecast looks promising with the wind set to increase throughout the day.
