(First heat of the brand new discipline will be 30 minutes, reducing to 20 minutes for the succeeding rounds.) In this pure surfing event, riders are scored for their ability to surf the wave. They can do air tricks which will also be scored. But they must not use the power of the wing, only the energy of the wave.

Liveticker Day Three – 19 March 2023 (GMT-1)

Wingfoilers were called for a 9am skippers’ meeting ahead of a seeding round to determine the starting order for the opening rounds of the competition. The seeding round is to be staged from 10.00 to 12.00 local time. After that, the plan is to continue with the kite-surf action. Elimination procedure and scoring explained

On the single 32, 16 or 8 ladder, there will be a Seeding Round in Round 1 to determine the seeding position for the main event. (Round 2 onwards).  

In order to safeguard the spots of the ranked competitors, in singles 32, there will be two groups of pre-seeded competitors as follows: from 1st to 16th and from 17th to 32nd.

Every competitor from the designated group will be competing against each other, they will be seeded in Round 2 according to the score obtained during the Seeding Round (Round 1).

In singles 16 and 8 there will only be one single group for the whole round.

Race director Juan Antonio released the wingfoilers for the the day at that 9am skippers’ meeting. The focus remains on kite-surf discipline as the conditions look great for today. The hope is to complete the men’s final, if conditions allow.
